EXHAUST HOOD

STAINLESS STEEL FABRICATIONS

An exhaust hood (also known as a range hood, vent hood, or kitchen hood) is a device that is typically installed above a stove or cooktop to ventilate and remove smoke, steam, grease, odors, and heat generated during cooking. It helps maintain air quality in the kitchen, preventing the buildup of grease and moisture that could potentially lead to mold or fire hazards.

MAIN TYPES OF EXHAUST HOODS:

  1. Ducted (vented) Exhaust Hoods:
    • They are typically more effective at removing smoke, heat, and odors but require installation of ductwork.
  2. Ductless (recirculating) Exhaust Hoods:
    • These hoods use filters (such as charcoal filters) to clean the air and then recirculate it back into the kitchen.
    • They are easier to install but may not be as effective as ducted hoods in removing airborne particles and odors.

KEY COMPONENTS OF AN EXHAUST HOOD:

  • Fan: The motorized component that pulls air through the hood and either vents it outside or filters and recirculates it.
  • Filters: These may include mesh, baffle, or charcoal filters. Mesh filters capture grease, while baffle filters are often more efficient at handling higher heat. Charcoal filters are typically used in ductless hoods to remove odors.
